In keeping with its annual practice, Bhartiya Samaj successfully hosted this year’s summer camp between January 10 and 14 with a healthy turn out of 100 kids. The camp was planned and organised in a professional manner under the guidance of Jeet Suchdev and Roopa and executed in an orderly fashion by many volunteers including seniors and young adults.
The first two days were filled with physical, mental and artistic activities. Various outside agencies such as Art of Living, Chinmaya Mission, V4U, Bollywood art works NZ devised programmes for the participants.
The third day was an outing around Queen Street and Tamaki drive (Mission Bay) in a double-decker bus, which then went on to Cornwall Park and One-Tree Hill. They trip included the educative star show at the Stardome Planetarium.
The fourth and fifth days were back in the hall with more fun filled activities like Zumba, mind strengthening workshops, personality building sessions and outdoor activities.
Throughout the five-day camp, children were served with a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks and fruits.
There was a certificate of appreciation issued to all the participants and the end of the day 5 and the kids were happy and felt honoured.
“There was a questionnaire gave to all the parents of the children to get to know their feedback and inputs on this camp and our other activities and the response was overwhelming,” Mr Suchdev said.
Bharatiya Samaj has thanked participants, volunteers and the organising committee for their tireless contribution towards the grand success of 2011 summer camp.
