New Delhi: Sania Mirza, who had surprisingly crashed out in the mixed doubles with Leander Paes a day ago, on Friday beat Australia's Olivia Rogowska to sail into the women's singles tennis final in the Commonwealth Games.
She beat Olivia 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 and assured a silver with the win, but the ace tennis star would eye for a gold surely.
Earlier, Somdev Devvarman overpowered Australian Matt Ebden 6-3, 6-1 to ensure a medal in tennis on Friday.
Assured of a silver, Somdev also now eyes a gold through a victory in final.
The Indian top seed would either play Peter Luczak or Greg Jones, both Australians locked in a semifinal face-off.
India's bet for a gold in tennis mixed doubles was shattered on Thursday night after Leander Paes and Sania Mirza crashed out.
The exit of second seeds Paes and Sania was shocking as they had been pre-match favourites to Scotland's Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae, who won 5-7, 4-6 in straight set, one of the upsets in New Delhi Games.
Paes and Sania were playing together for the first time since their triumph in Doha Asian Games in 2006.
