Auckland will witness 17 unique dance styles in the International Dance Festival being organsied by Auckland Malayali Samajam (AMS) on March 28, 2015.
This dance festival comes as the conclusion of the 15th anniversary celebrations of AMS. This festival aims to bridge the gap between cultures, which is crucial for peace, stability and development. It also aims for the acceptance and recognition of cultural diversity in particular through dance forms and entertainment.
Cultural diversity is a driving force of development, not only with respect to economic growth, but also as a means of leading a more fulfilling intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual life.
The unique dance forms include Hip Hop (USA), Fijian, Samoan, Cook Islands, Chinese Traditional, Chinese Dragon Dance, Belly Dance, Folklore Chileno Latino, Salsa, Spanish Indian Fusion, Kathak, Indian Contemporary, Goan, Gujarati, Bengali, South Indian Classical and Punjabi dance forms. Hence, the festival represents various nationalities, cultures and traditions with an expected audience of 1200 people.
This is a fund raiser to set up a bereavement Fund for the community and tickets cost only $15.
Auckland Malayali Samajam - an association formed for the people of Kerala living in Auckland. The Auckland Malayali Samajam was established in the year 1999 as a not-for-profit socio cultural organization. Through meticulously organised cultural, social, educational and sporting activities Auckland Malayali Samajam adds value to society thereby achieving high level of social interaction and social awareness in the community.
